Five Relaxed Days in Peninsula Papagayo

The coast and village at Playas del Coco in Guanacaste

A Costa Rica holiday does not have to be a race from one activity to the next. When your base is a private villa in Peninsula Papagayo, it is worth creating a plan with plenty of room to change your mind. Here is an easygoing five-day outline to make the most of Guanacaste while leaving space for the simple moments.

Day one: arrive and settle in

Arrange your airport transfer, unpack at the villa and spend the afternoon getting to know your surroundings. A simple dinner at home is an inviting way to start, particularly after a long travel day. Ask about grocery provisioning if you prefer to avoid errands on arrival.

Day two: meet the coastline

Ease into the Pacific with a beach outing or a boat excursion. Your concierge can help match a destination to your group’s interests, the weather and any resort-access arrangements. Keep the evening free for a relaxed meal and time on the terrace.

Day three: look inland

A guided nature walk introduces you to the tropical dry forest surrounding the peninsula. If your group is eager for a longer drive and a full-day adventure, explore whether Rincón de la Vieja National Park suits your interests and the current park conditions.

Day four: make it a villa day

There is a reason you chose a private residence. Sleep in, read beside the pool and take a leisurely lunch. Consider booking an in-villa wellness treatment or an evening with a private chef. The day does not need an itinerary to feel special.

Day five: follow your favorite discovery

Return to the beach you loved, take another boat outing or explore a nearby coastal town such as Playas del Coco. Ask for an early start if you prefer a quieter day. Whatever you choose, leave time for one last sunset before departure.
