There is no single way to experience Peninsula Papagayo. On Costa Rica’s northwestern Pacific coast, wooded headlands, sheltered coves, warm hospitality, and an easygoing rhythm encourage you to choose the days you actually want. A private villa is a wonderful base: start when you like, explore at your own pace, and return to a space that feels entirely yours.
Start with the setting
Peninsula Papagayo lies in Guanacaste, where tropical dry forest meets the Gulf of Papagayo. The views change as you move from one side of the peninsula to another: quiet bays, rugged coastline, and hills covered in green during the wetter months and more open woodland through the dry season. Even if your plan is simply to read by the pool, leave time to see the wider landscape.
Choose two or three experiences, not ten
A boat excursion is an inviting introduction to this stretch of the Pacific, especially if you enjoy seeing the coastline from the water. A guided nature walk gives you a different perspective on the dry forest and its wildlife. If you prefer an unstructured afternoon, ask our team about beaches and dining that suit your party, including any access arrangements or extra fees.
Make the most of your villa
One of the advantages of a private residence is flexibility. You might arrange a chef for one evening, enjoy a slow breakfast on the terrace, or set off early for the beach before the day warms up. Our concierge can assist with transport, provisions and suggested activities so you are not spending vacation time coordinating every detail.
A note on the seasons
Guanacaste generally experiences a drier stretch from roughly December through April and a greener, wetter season during much of the rest of the year. Conditions vary, and a rainy afternoon does not define an entire trip. The best season is the one that suits your preferred balance of sunshine, lush scenery and activities.
